This major is a program that prepares individuals to assist in providing general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or dentist.

Includes instruction in taking patient vital signs, applying sterile dressings, patient health education and assistance with examinations and treatment.

What can you do with a major/degree in Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training Major?

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will work closely with registered nurses (RNs) and doctors as you provide patients with basic nursing care.  You may work in a wide range of healthcare settings including doctor’s offices, urgent care centers, and hospitals.

 

Your job responsibilities as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) are basically the same as an LPN.  The only difference is that states across the country refer to this entry-level area of nursing in different ways.
