Optometry Major

This major is a prepares individuals for the independent professional practice of optometry and that focuses on the principles and techniques for examining, diagnosing, and treating conditions of the visual system.

Includes instruction in prescribing glasses and contact lenses, other optical aids, corrective therapies, patient counseling, physician referral, practice management, and ethics and professional standards.

What can you do with a major/degree in Optometry Major?

If you pursue this major program the chances are likely you have the career ambition to be an Optometrist.  In this career, you will examine patient’s eyes to diagnose any problems in vision and prescribe corrective lenses for them.  To become an Optometrist, you will need to complete a four-year professional program after college to receive the necessary Doctor of Optometry degree.
