This major is a program that prepares individuals to provide healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician.

Includes courses in human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Many programs require individuals to have several hundred hours of practicum, experience working, or volunteering in health care.

What can you do with a major/degree in Physician Assistant Major?

In your role as a Physician Assistant, you will conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, and counsel patients. You may, in some cases, prescribe medication. You will need to graduate from an accredited educational program for physician assistants.  Physicians Assistants work in all areas of medicine, including primary care and family medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and surgery-where they assist physicians during procedures.  A master’s degree and licensing is required.
