Rehabilitation Aide Major

This major is a program that prepares individuals to assist in rehabilitation services under the supervision of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other therapeutic professionals, and to perform routine functions in support of rehabilitation.

Includes instruction in roles and responsibilities of rehabilitation providers, basic function of the human body, disabling conditions, therapeutic skills, client management, and communication skills.

What can you do with a major/degree in Rehabilitation Aide Major?

As a Rehabilitation Aide, under close supervision of a rehabilitation therapist or rehabilitation therapy assistant, perform only delegated, selected, or routine tasks in specific situations. These duties include preparing patient and treatment room.

 

Job opportunities for rehabilitation aides are very likely in the future as opportunities in this career subsector are expected to see a thirty-five percent (35%) growth 2019-2029.

 

A high school diploma or equivalent is generally the minimum educational requirement to enter this career area.  Rehabilitation aides usually need on-the-job training that can last from about one week to one month.  As well, non-certification programs are an option.
